Every Lutron GRAFIK Eye Series Is End-of-Life. Here's the Upgrade Path.
3000, 4000, 5000/6000, 7000 — discontinued, no parts, no firmware. The 5000/6000 programming software won't even run on a modern PC. LOXONE replaces GRAFIK Eye in Houston, reuses your wiring, and gives you the admin password.
All four Lutron GRAFIK Eye series — 3000, 4000, 5000/6000, and 7000 — are discontinued with no manufacturer support. Grizzly Tec in Houston replaces them with LOXONE wired automation, reusing existing low-voltage keypad cable where possible. Clients receive full admin access, the design file, and zero monthly fees.

Full replacement guide →Why LOXONE Beats New Lutron for GRAFIK Eye Replacement
- All four GRAFIK Eye series are discontinued — no parts, no firmware, no support
- 5000/6000 programming software requires Windows 98 — unrunnable on modern PCs
- GRX protocol prevents direct upgrade to new Lutron HomeWorks QSX or Athena
- Existing low-voltage keypad cable is typically reusable as LOXONE Tree bus
- Replacing with LOXONE avoids both Lutron's dealer-locked model and any annual service plan
- Active manufacturer with 300,000+ installations worldwide and ongoing development

Frequently Asked Questions
None. All four GRAFIK Eye generations — 3000, 4000, 5000/6000, and 7000 — are discontinued. The 3000 ended production in the early-to-mid 2010s; the 4000 followed; the 5000/6000 reached official End of Life on May 16, 2014; and the 7000 received its hard sunset in December 2024. Lutron no longer supplies parts, technical support, or firmware updates for any of them.
Check the label on the back of the unit or on the panel door in your mechanical room. Model numbers starting with GRX indicate the 3000 series. GRX-4000 or LP indicates the 4000. G-5000 or G-6000 indicates the 5000/6000 platform. G-7000 or GRAFIK 7000P indicates the 7000 series. If you have a single wall unit in a residential room, it's almost certainly the 3000. A rack-mounted panel in a utility room controlling an entire floor is the 4000, 5000/6000, or 7000.
Not directly. The GRX protocol that older GRAFIK Eye systems use is not compatible with modern Lutron platforms. Migrating from GRAFIK Eye to HomeWorks QSX is effectively a full rip-and-replace — same scope of work as moving to LOXONE, but with the dealer-locked ownership model and annual service plan still in place. LOXONE gives you the same retrofit benefit without the lock-in.
Because it was written for Windows 98. The original GRAFIK 5000/6000 programming application does not run on modern Windows builds, and Lutron no longer maintains it. Many facilities teams find that their system technically still works, but the moment anything needs reprogramming there is no path forward without replacement.
Usually yes. GRAFIK Eye keypads run low-voltage cable back to the central processor — the same topology LOXONE Tree uses. We verify gauge, run length, and termination during the on-site assessment. When cable qualifies, we reuse it; new runs are added only where required.
Yes — and for 5000/6000 systems in multi-floor buildings, this is the standard approach. We replace the central processor and the highest-traffic floor first, run that floor on LOXONE while the legacy panel still serves the others, then phase the remaining floors over weekend windows. Egress and emergency lighting are coordinated with the AHJ throughout.
Residential 3000-series replacements typically run $15,000–$30,000. Estate-scale 7000-series projects in River Oaks and Memorial run $40,000–$120,000+. Commercial 4000 and 5000/6000 migrations are priced per floor, typically from $25,000/floor for medium-density buildings. Reusing existing keypad wiring is the single biggest cost reducer.
Yes. Day-one familiarity is the explicit goal of the cutover. We recreate every existing scene under its original name and keep keypad button positions consistent so the system feels familiar from the moment we hand it over. New capability (mobile app, voice, schedules) is layered on top as you choose to use it.
